Q. Can I join MAFET - if I don't have a team?
A. No, you must form a team and submit your team through a coach.
Q. I belong to another equestrian team, does that make a difference?
A. Absolutely not, we recommend that you expand your skills.
Q. How many members do you need to make a team?
A. As few as two can compete as a team.
Q. How does a coach qualify?
A. Right now restrictions are limited on coaches as we are just starting out. There is a guild line a coach needs to follow and be aware of prior to approval. Have your coaches contact us for more information.
Q. I live in Livingston county does my team have to compete in Livingston county?
A. We are still mapping out general rules and regulations as this is a pilot program. We do not require you to belong to any certain group to perform as a team member. That would be at the discretion of your coach.
Q. I am 10 years old and will be 11 on my birthday in August can I join a team?
A. No, your age is based on January of the year you are applying for. If you are 10 in January you are 10 until January of the next year.
Q. How much does it cost to be on a team and what is the cost of the shows?
A. It cost 25.00 for each team member. The cost of the show will vary somewhere between 40.00 and 60.00 per member. You can have local fund raisers to cover these costs.
Q. I was disbarred from being a coach at another organization can I belong to yours as a coach?
A. Absolutely, we hold no malicious toward ex-members of other clubs.
Q. I have two horses how many can I compete with?
A. We will allow each member to compete with two horses so you are safe.
Q. My friend does not have a horse can she share mine?
A. Yes we feel that each team coach should have the ability to see that their team and horses are healthy and in condition to compete.
Q. Can I refuse classes I do not like?
A. You and your coach will have to work that out. Our slots are set to include each student and if you choose not to ride then your chances for state champion is limited.
Q. Are practices mandatory?
A. Practices are not mandatory but are recommended and would have to be set through your coaches. We do not run your team we run the state organization that will monitor your teams competition.
Q. Do I have to be a member of MAFET to be on a team?
A. No, but you do have to be a member to compete at any competition we support.
Q. Are you going to put your rules and regulations up on the site?
A. Yes we most likely will do that in the future but for now they can be previewed through our booklet that we issue to the coaches.
Q. How many teams in Michigan are there?
A. Very few but hopefully we will be growing as we become more known to the public.
Q. Can I ride in every class if I am qualified?
A. Only if your coach has the openings for you as a team member.
Q. How do you break down your divisions for teams?
